Post Treatment Support

Uncategorized

About 3 years back in 2019 in RCRF we were approached for help for a lady, Mdm. S with Colon Cancer.

It gave an insight into the bond of friendship. Mdm. S has an elder son who is mentally challenged, and need constant attention and her second son – K – is an active guy with good circle of friends. When his mother was diagnosed with Cancer it was a major blow to the family.

The husband had to quit the job to take care of the elder son, and all their savings were likely to be used for it.  Mdm. S informed later on, that she thought it is better not to go for treatment so that the money can be left behind for the care of the elder boy. However kind friends and neighbours contributed funds for initial expenses.

RCRF helped and the lady is doing fine, is back to work.

The second son, one who just completed his school, and stepping into college, was also in two minds – to quit the studies and go for work or continue as best as possible. He talked about his dilemma with a close friend of his from school. That friend – P – was troubled to see the difficulty his friend was having. He talked to his father -M – who had for a short while coached the team at Dr. MGR School. And he called me….

I found out from M that his son was for days on end saying how he feels for his friend, and with tears asked the father to find some help. Initially he said he could not  do anything, but the persistence of the son made him to think of how to go about remembered Rotary and called me. I thought it was the good friendship between the boys that made him to think of helping.
